Discover the gentle power of Yin Yoga, learn about the Nervous System and polyvagal theory, deepen your personal practice, and create a foundation to teach Yin Yoga in a nervous-system informed way.
for all levels
This training is open to Yoga teachers and everyone interested in learning more about nervous-system-informed Yin Yoga. It offers a combination of in-depth theory and nervous system-informed Yin Yoga practice. A balance of technique, understanding, and embodied experience.
Yin Yoga is calm, passive, and receptive. It offers us the space that is often lost in our hectic daily lives - a dedicated time where we can leave behind our daily tasks, responsibilities, and roles, reconnecting with our inner world.
The moment we begin a Yin Yoga practice is also the moment we begin to relate to our nervous system in a different way.
As attention turns inward a quieter conversation with ourselves begins - one rooted in listening, sensing and allowing.
This inner state is shaped by the activity of the autonomic nervous system, the way we perceive internal and external signals, and how we interpret them.
In this training, we explore Yin Yoga through the lens of the nervous system and Polyvagal Theory. You will learn how to practice and guide Yin Yoga in a nervous system-informed way, alongside a target areas approach that offers a clear anatomical intention for each pose. We explore how to recognise where a pose is landing, understand why the same pose may be experienced differently in different bodies, and adapt shapes through variations, props, and alternatives. Alongside this, you will learn to meet your own inner state and the inner states of your students with more clarity and skill, so the practice can become a more reliable resource for regulation.
You will learn the fundamental concepts of Polyvagal Theory and how different nervous system states shape our experience. We explore how Yin Yoga interacts with the nervous system and how different elements of the practice can influence activation, regulation, and the way we experience and respond to sensation. You will also learn about fascia, sensory receptors, and the role of long-held shapes in how we sense and experience the body.
This part is about understanding your own nervous system. Through guided reflection and practices based on the polyvagal framework, you will begin to recognise your nervous system’s patterns and tendencies, create your own nervous system map, and identify personal anchors for regulation. This gives you a framework for meeting your own inner state with greater awareness and for holding space for others without assuming that regulation looks the same for everyone.
You will learn the 13 key target areas of Yin Yoga and build a clear understanding of the anatomical intention behind the poses. This gives you a framework for recognising where a pose is landing and adapting it through variations, props, changes in orientation, and alternative poses for different bodies. From a nervous system perspective, we explore how factors such as intensity, duration, support, and individual experience can shape the response to a pose.
You will learn a range of breathing practices, meditations, somatic exercises, Daoist self-massage sequences and other practices that can complement Yin Yoga and support nervous system regulation. We explore their different effects and how to choose and integrate them with intention into the sessions.
You will learn how to shape and guide Yin Yoga classes in ways that support safety, connection, and choice. Through a polyvagal lens, we explore how your presence, language, pacing, cueing, context, and the choices you offer can influence how a practice is experienced. We also look at co-regulation, working with different nervous system states, and the considered use of touch in Yin Yoga.
The Yin Yoga Teacher Training in Mallorca was truly a transformative experience for me. I learned so much, not only about the philosophy and practice of Yin Yoga, but also about how it influences the human body and mind in such a gentle yet profound way.
The location, surrounded by nature and far from distractions, created the perfect space to slow down, reflect, and reconnect. The food was absolutely delicious and nourishing, and the group energy was warm, supportive, and inspiring. It felt like a little community from day one.
I left this training feeling grounded, inspired, and grateful. I can only recommend it to anyone looking to deepen their Yin Yoga journey and experience true stillness and connection. Thank you Sonja!

I had an absolutely wonderful time - Sonja’s retreat and training were truly exceptional. You could feel in every moment how much love and care went into the entire program.
In the mornings and evenings we practiced gentle Yin sessions that changed each day, each one devoted to an element like Water or Earth. During the day we had inspiring theory and practice sessions that were not only fascinating but also beautifully applicable to everyday life.
The group was small, harmonious, and from the very first day there was a deep sense of connection. It was such a special, heart-opening experience - full of warmth, insight, and community.
I’m endlessly grateful for it and would do it again anytime.
The location and food were also a 10/10 🤍

The nervous system is the foundation of our human experience. Our happiness and the depth in which we experience life and deeply connected with it. Nervous-system informed Yin Yoga is a wonderful tool that can support the nervous system towards regulation.
Sonja started prictising yoga in 2010 and has been teaching Yoga since 2019. Since then, her focus has been on Yin Yoga and offering spaces for people to slow down and reconnect with themselves. Her curiosity led her to train with different teachers, completing over 1000H of Yoga teacher trainings. She then deepened her knowledge on the Nervous System with seveal trainings, starting to weave what she learned into her Yin Yoga practice and teaching.
The Yin Yoga training with Sonja was a beautiful interplay of learning, emotions, openness, and new experiences. The knowledge and practice she shared will be lifelong companions on my path - ones I would never want to be without and for which I am endlessly grateful. Giving the class the space it needs, bringing people together, and creating an environment where positive connection and mutual support are the priority is something truly special - just like Sonja herself, her energy, and the way she shares her wisdom and makes you feel good. I encourage anyone to dare to invest this time in themselves and to place their trust in Sonja. For me, it has been worthwhile in every possible way.

For the past two years, Yin Yoga has enriched my everyday life and given me a whole new connection to my inner calm and my body. Sonja’s classes are always uniquely profound and have supported me throughout my journey. The training helped me understand why Yin has such a powerful effect on me, and it’s also helping me improve my own routine and share these experiences with others. I can only recommend it to everyone - it was such a valuable and truly enjoyable experience.

Sonja’s Yin Yoga training was incredibly enriching for me. She shared so much profound knowledge about the individual poses, their effects on the body, and the entire history of Yin. The atmosphere and sense of trust within the group were so special that everyone felt safe to show up as they were and continue their personal growth. I would take the training again anytime and hope there will be a continuation one day. :)
